Structural combinations.
How do elements combine to form matter? Matter say iron has x% earth and y% each of other elements. Then do the elements mix homogeneously?
Modern day chemists know that every molecule has elements placed in a geometric pattern. Similar to this thought the alchemists theorized a structural pattern in combinations.
